Austen Camille’s “To Re-Turn is a Forward Motion”
Join us for local artist Austen Camille’s To Re-Turn is a Forward Motion at Cherry Street Pier on July 20 through July 25. Free and open to the public.
The works presented in To Re-Turn Is A Forward Motion have been created over the past three years, while Camille has lived in Philadelphia and explored the meaning of home and belonging. While analyzing and unearthing sensations of past homes, Camille is creating one here.
Taking the form of performance, writing, object-making, and expansive time-based installations and processes, the work intentionally cannot be seen and held all at once. Bodies of work fall into one another, and objects and images can belong to several works at any given moment. Camille aims to emphasize the boundaries of human perception and to challenge reductive forms of knowledge, creation, and values of permanence.
