Going the Extra Mile for Education
We Love Philly and local journalist Jason Peters, in collaboration with Ying Skill Sharing Company and The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, will host Going the Extra Mile for Education at Cherry Street Pier on Friday, July 16. Free and open to the public.
The event will be a send-off for Carlos Aponte (Executive Director of We Love Philly) and Jason Peters as they embark upon a 62-mile walk to Atlantic City that will end with a beachfront celebration on July 18 at 7 pm.
During the opening event, guests will enjoy student performances and hear their stories as they gear up for the upcoming 2021 school year. The three-day journey will also advocate for students to hold positions on the School District of Philadelphia’s School Board and have a vote in district decisions and affairs. All donations will go to fund Project Ownership.
