Pysanky egg dyeing is a technique using wax, acid dyes, and specialized tools to build up layered designs onto real eggshells. Jones uses this method to create the eggs currently on display in the “Eggy” Art Show on display in the Gallery at the Pier through March 31.
During this workshop, you will learn how to use specialized tools to puncture three (3) eggs and empty them before dyeing. Jones will walk you through the steps of applying wax to your eggs to create resists for building up layers of color. Attendees will use beeswax and flames. Those with sensitive skin, are encouraged to bring gloves.
Once finished, the eggs are great for spring decor or to use as gifts.
