GrioXArts presents “Expansions”
GrioXArts is pleased to announce Expansions, a solo exhibition by multimedia artist DuiJi Mshinda. The exhibition will open on July 5 and be on view through August 2 in Studio 3 at Cherry Street Pier.
Expansions are part of Mshinda’s ongoing art project (2006 to present) that explores and celebrates the practice of creative resilience through the medium of abstraction and digital collage. In this exhibition, Mshinda experiments, taking his unique fractal process to the next level with larger format pieces. The exhibition also includes original ink drawings on paper, digital collages, wall-sized patterns on vinyl, and a series of abstract artworks.
Mshinda and GrioXArts will host programming throughout July, including performances by Vinyl Tap 215, a Philly-based DJ collective, and a vinyl record pop-up.
Event Schedule
All events will take place in Studio 3.
About DuiJi Mshinda
DuiJi Mshinda (he, his, him), known as DuiJi 13, is a multimedia artist and DJ. He is the Logistics Director for VinylTap215, a collective of Philadelphia-area DJs holding monthly events centered on community, music education, and well-being. Mshinda aims to amplify abstraction as a radical art form of liberation that celebrates the unnamable, kinetic, and dynamic immediacy of creative imagination.
DuiJi’s visual art expresses “being present while waiting for something.”
His primary inspiration is coping with life’s challenges, while music and digital fractal creation are elements in his wellness toolbox. He is a published poet and an accomplished DJ, co-founding two DJ collectives. Artmaking helps keep him grounded, centered, and focused on the shared reality.
