Caroline Stoughton’s “Life’s Wild”
Join us for resident artist Caroline Stoughton’s latest exhibition, “Life’s Wild,” on display at Cherry Street Pier from January 3 through January 31, 2025, in the Gallery.
An opening reception will be held on January 3 from 5 to 8 p.m., with an artist Q&A at 7 p.m.
“Life’s Wild” is the fifth solo exhibition for Stoughton, featuring paintings of more than 20 animal species. This exhibition captures the essence of animal life, focusing on their nuanced personalities, emotions, and expressions that Stoughton has become familiar with through careful study.
Stoughton examines the delicate balance between human and animal existence daily, reflecting on how human activity has shaped and complicated the world for animals. Her work is informed by her fascination with animals’ resilience, sensitivity, curiosity, and intelligence—their ability to prioritize survival and familial bonds despite the increasing disruptions of modern life.
Each painting conveys the joy and wonder of observing wildlife, inviting viewers to connect with creatures as much a part of life’s wildness as humans. A portion of proceeds from art sales will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund.
